The Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation is grateful to accept a DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise drone generously donated by Derbyshire Constabulary's Drones Team. This equipment will enhance our search capabilities in the Derbyshire Peaks, allowing us to locate and assist people in difficulty more efficiently.

Our collaborative relationship with Derbyshire Constabulary has developed over several years through joint training and operations. This partnership has been invaluable in developing effective drone deployment strategies for mountain rescue scenarios.

Brendan O'Neill, PDMRO representative and national Mountain Rescue lead for Drones, said: "We've been working very closely with the Derbyshire Police Drone Unit for a number of years now, providing drone support on numerous missing person searches. The extra thermal drone will allow us to expand our capability, particularly in the dark. We can now further expand our searches in these conditions – which will be vital in keeping searches going for longer and helping to locate people quicker."

The thermal imaging capabilities of this drone will be particularly beneficial during night operations and in challenging weather conditions, extending our operational window and improving our ability to conduct effective searches.

We sincerely thank Derbyshire Constabulary for this contribution to our rescue resources and look forward to utilizing this technology to support our mission of helping those in need across the Peak District.
