This past weekend saw success for two of our own in the national Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England (MRSDE) assessment programme, as Rachael and Search Dog Tarn (Edale MRT) and Rob and Search Dog Ghyll (Derby MRT) successfully completed their final assessments to become fully qualified search dog teams.
Taking place over an intensive weekend of assessments, teams from across the country were tested on their ability to operate in challenging environments, searching large areas in a safe, efficient, and methodical manner. The outcome? A fantastic achievement for all involved, with several new teams qualifying, including Rach & Tarn and Rob & Ghyll.
Both teams have dedicated countless hours over the past few years to reach this milestone, including regular national training courses, midweek and weekend practices, and volunteer exercises with fellow team members and the wider MRSDE network.
As qualified search dog teams, Rachael & Tarn and Rob & Ghyll are now available to assist in searches for missing people across the UK, working alongside mountain rescue teams and emergency services.
We’d like to extend our congratulations not only to Rob and Rachael but also to the other newly graded teams:

- Des and Search Dog Max
A huge thank you goes to the volunteer dogs bodies who spend long hours out on the hill hiding for dogs in training, as well as the independent assessors who gave their time to support this national assessment.
